Prior to becoming a Professional Firefighter the proprietor of our company was employed as an (A.F.L.C.I.O. trade union trained) elevator mechanic. His elevator career began in 1972 and his experience included exposure to all types and vintages of elevator equipment. In 1978 he began his career as a professional firefighter; in the early part of 1980 he began development of an educational program which could be used to deliver “Elevator Safety Procedures” to and for firefighters that respond to elevator emergencies. This program was completed and initially delivered in June of 1980. The program was well received and addressed an area of education and concern that was limited and difficult to access for fire departments. Since their inception the training courses have developed into several levels of training expertise that can be delivered to fire departments, corporations and or private industry concerns. The introductory “Level 1” training course provides fire personnel with a good understanding and foundation of safety knowledge and risk analysis / risk assessment. We recommend this eight hour course as a core class for this reason. Our instructors are experienced fire rescue personnel, elevator, escalator industry personnel or National Association of Elevator Safety Authority qualified that have a great deal of experience. Please review the list of available training courses.Level 1: Introductory course elevators (Awareness Level) Level 2: Escalator emergencies (Awareness Level) Level 3: Elevator use Fire fighters service (High rise firefighting operations) Level 4: Elevator Technical rescue procedures (Technician Level) Mission Statement: To eliminate or reduce the potential injury, death and liability exposure for personnel performing elevator / escalator passenger rescue operations, to reduce any unnecessary damage to elevator / escalator equipment, through education and interactive training classes. |
